Trauma Treatment
For effective trauma treatment to occur, there must be a sense of safety in the therapeutic relationship. Having treated trauma for many years, Jeremy is skilled at holding space for a client and moving into the work that is needed in a way that is both gentle and deliberate.
Traumatic experiences can lead us to feel as though danger is everywhere. While very difficult things do happen, we need to find a way, while honoring the weight of past events, to also put events in their appropriate place. Like anything worth doing, this is easier said than done. We can do this difficult work together.
Trauma impacts our lives in so many ways, and we can exhaust ourselves trying to compartmentalize it. In the long run, attempts to deny the far-reaching effects of trauma often have their own negative consequences. For this reason, effective trauma treatment goes beyond symptom management to reprocessing and integration. Interventions such as Brainspotting and EMDR can be instrumental in helping us to rewrite the story of past events in ways that broaden the possibilities for our futures.
Throughout his career as a therapist, Jeremy has sought out effective means of treating trauma. In addition to EMDR and Brainspotting, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy may play a role in treatment.
All sessions are presented from the foundation of Attachment-Based Therapy. First and foremost, client's are met with compassion and curiosity about their current situation and hopes for progress. Clients always have the right to guide their therapy.
